Hand #364 Inkspots Tour Houston Museum District and Hermann Park

Mr. and Mrs. Inkspot, Pointer and Pinkie spend the day visiting the Museum District and Hermann Park in Houston Texas.  They enjoyed venturing into a new world, exploring other cultures, taking in modern masterworks and seeing treasures from all over the world. They took a break, stopping for lunch in the Museum of fine Arts. Mrs. Inkspot enjoyed strolling through the gardens at Hermann Park, while Pinkie and Pointer ran under the trees and played at the reflection pools edge. The trip ended with a walk around the Sam Houston Monument. Pointer was happy to finally see it up close after looking at it all day from afar.

Hand #242 Inkspots Celebrate 2013

Mr and Mrs Inkspot thought it would be fun to bring Pinkie and Pointer Downtown Houston to experience the cities new year celebration. It was cold and rainy.... they were glad to have a warm cozy hotel room to stay in, out of the elements. At the stroke of midnight they all went down to the third floor pool deck, with all the other hotel guests and while standing under an overhang, out of the rain, they rang in 2013!

Hand #209 Inkspots 70 Feet Up

Pinkie and Pointer could not wait to race to the top...70 feet up! Mr and Mrs Inkspot huffed and puffed their way to the top....oh what a view! They visited the Port Isabel Light House in the heart of Port Isabel, Texas. The top of the of the tower offers a 16 mile view. The light house was built in 1852 as a working beacon for vessels entering the Brazos Santiago Pass.

Hand #207 Inkspots say WHAT?!

While on vacation the Inkspots made a spontaneous stop at Bobz World of the Seven Seas. From the looks of the large outdoor display of tropical fish, jungle animals, and dinosaurs, Mr and Mrs Inkspot had hoped Bobz World would be a children's adventure; a place of games, fun facts...a museum of sorts. After all, the outside display was attractive and drew them in from the road, with a large sign that read Grand Opening!  It appeared to be a fun indoor place for Pinkie and Pointer to let off some energy. BUT, as they walked through the shark mouth... through the glass doors, they discovered... WHAT?! A Tourist Trap! There was no indication that this was a store! Souvenirs abound, from hats, shirts, frames, brick-a-brack and shells from all over the world. Mr and Mrs Pointer laughed out loud as they walked briskly through the large store in disbelief, before heading back to the car to be on their way. In addition to the laughter, the only other delight was the fun family photo opportunity.

Hand #153 Inkspots visit Dinosaur Valley

Inkspots take a road trip to Glen Rose Texas to visit Dinosaur Valley State Park. Mr and Mrs Inkspot, Pointer and Pinkie were amazed to see and touch real dinosaur foot prints as they walked in the riverbed where the giants roamed. Dinosaur Valley contains some of the best preserved dinosaur tracks in the world.

113 million years ago soils were deposited along the shorelines of an ancient sea, forming this park area. Over the last million years or so the layers have been eroded and sculpted by the Paluxy River - flowing...cutting down to rock bed ... exposing the river bottom... that's where the dinosaur tracks are.

Upper Left Photo ~ Inkspots between two fiberglass models, a 70-foot Apatosaurus and a 45-foot Tyrannosaurus Rex. They were built, under commission of the Sinclair Oil Company, for New York World's Fair Dinosaur Exhibit of 1964 – 1965

Upper Right Photo ~ Inkspots in the riverbed with dinosaur tracks behind them... three-toed, sharp-clawed, two-legged theropods (meat eating dinos) Acrocauthosaurus tracks.... also huge four-legged, long-necked (plant eating) dinos also known as Brontosaurs.

Lower Right Photo ~ After their adventure in the Paluxy River, Mr and Mrs Inkspot took Pinkie and Pointer to Dinosaur World where they played and learned more about dinosaurs.

Hand #144 Inkspots Visit Denver

Mr and Mrs Inkspot, Pointer and Pinkie took a quick trip to Denver Colorado this past weekend. They arrived happy, safe and sound! Thankful.... after their previous adventure, where they were tossed around in their luggage and lost for three days!  Their room at the Hyatt had a great view! Once settled in, they took the light rail to Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Home to the Denver Broncos football team. The tour was AWESOME. Their favorite highlights; going in the visiting team locker room, touring the press box, and standing on the field!

Hand #135 Inkspots visit Venice Italy

Mr and Mrs Inkspot, Pointer and Pinkie were excited to be taking their first family vacation out of the U.S. After being lost for three days in luggage, routed through Germany, Switzerland, and Rome... finally arriving in Venice Italy.... bent, torn, tired and damp.... what an adventure!
Wasting no time, they strolled the walkways and traveled the waterways of Venice. Pointer and Pinkie enjoyed all the boat rides. Mr Inkspot ate lots of pasta. Pointer's favorite thing was seeing the inventions and drawings of Leonardo da Vinci ~The Genius of Leonardo da Vinci. Mrs Inkspot loved the Opera ~ G. Verdi Latraviata (brought her to tears) and Pinkie's favorite thing, ice cream!

Hand #87 Inksopts Visit Chicago

The Inkspots had fun in Chicago this weekend...traveling from China Town to the Magnificent Mile and all sights in between....  Pointer and Pinkie's favorite attraction was visiting the "Bean" at Millennium Park and riding on the train. Mrs Inkspot had the family pose in their hotel room window with lovely view of city below and with the flowers in the hotel lobby.

(yes... we received odd looks as we walked the streets of Chicago with the Inkspots taking many photos....so many, it was hard to select for the collage! We could hear parents telling their children "oh look, that's a hand.... a finger family... isn't that cute!")

Hand #65 Inkspot's Sunday-Best

Mr and Mrs Inkspot put on their Sunday best and brought Pinkie and Pointer to Lakewood Church. Quickly, as instructed by Mrs Inkspot, everyone hopped out of the car for a family photo before the storm began. Wouldn't you know...just as the photo was being taken, a big gust of wind came and blew off Pointer's shirt. He was not too upset, as his favorite ball cap stayed on, which was more important to him.

Hand # 51 Inkspots Around Town

The Inkspot family enjoying the surroundings around Houston this weekend. Mr. Inkspot and Pointer had to grab a bite to eat at the food truck, Eatsie Boys in Montross. Pinkie giggled with delight when she spotted the blue palm tree, located near the Rice University jogging trail. Mrs. Pointer thought it would make a great family photo, ordering everyone out of the car for the "Kodak" moment.

(my husband is a good sport... to be carrying around my hand and posing it, the Inkspots, so I can take the picture. We are having fun with this adventure!)
